Massage

Massage is the manipulation of the soft tissues of the body with the hands for healing, therapeutic, pleasurable and relaxing effects.  Whether a deep tissue massage to release muscle tension and help reduce stress is required, or something to relax or stimulate the recipient, there are a variety of massages techniques and styles to achieve the desired outcome;

  • Aromatherapy Massage
    • Adding Aromatherapy essential oils enables the treatment of the mind and body and therefore it also soothes the soul!
    • The oils work both physiologically and psychologically; affecting the recipient both physically and emotionally! This can be anything from just relaxing, de-stressing or uplifting the recipient to actually helping specific ailments and conditions (see the information about essential oils on our Aromatherapy Essential Oils page).
  • Basic Massage
    • Basic Massage uses just a carrier oil and the recipient chooses whether they want a light touch or deep tissue massage (this is often referred to as Swedish Massage)
      • Light touch massage relaxes the recipient and helps reduce stress
        • Aromatherapy Massage is generally light touch but a similar technique without the essential oils can achieve similar results
      • Deep tissue massage releases muscle tension and help reduce stress
        • Swedish Massage and Sports Massage are generally deep tissue
  • Indian Head Massage
    • Indian Head Massage, also known as Champissage (possibly a portmanteau of chāmpi, the Hindi term for the practice, and massage), is a trademarked term for an alternative medicine massage therapy.
    • In champissage, the head, neck, shoulders and face are massaged with the purpose of manipulating energy channels. The goal is to clear blocks in these energy channels that cause a build-up of negative energy that are purported to cause ailments. The belief is when the energy does not flow properly, negative energy builds up, causing common ailments, including stress, pain, nociception pains & aches and baldness or hair loss.
  • Stone Massage
    • Stone Massage uses hot and cold stones to enhance the massage which aids deeper massage to help break down adhesions and aid lymphatic drainage.
    • As well as being incredibly relaxing, this massage lasts longer and the therapist will also balance the recipient’s chakras, giving them a sense of balance and wellbeing!
