Reflexology
Reflexology is a non-invasive treatment performed on the feet and sometimes on the hands. This holistic therapy uses manipulation with pressure of varying degrees.
Reflexology focuses on areas of the feet that correspond to specific areas of the body. The effects of reflexology are unique to each person. Most people experience a sense of well-being and relaxation, others find it uplifting and energising. The pressure applied during reflexology stimulates the movement of energy along the body’s pathways, through the use of a specific finger and thumb massage technique. This pressure has a direct affect on the related area, cleansing and balancing to allow any healing needed to occur.
Benefits:
- Eases pain, by producing endorphins and interrupting the pain cycle
- Can reduce pain in the terminally ill
- Preventing conditions occurring by noticing the early signs of illness
- Helpful for PMS, menopausal distress and period pains
- Aids digestion – eases constipation and abdominal spasm
- It can lower blood pressure, reduce stress level, can combat insomnia and other stress related disorders
- It can alleviate tension headaches and helps to deal with different emotions, such as anxiety, mild depression and grief
For your Reflexology treatment you will be fully clothed with bare feet (if you are wearing trousers we ask you roll them up to your knees as your lower part of your calves will be massaged). The treatment starts with a relaxing foot spa for around ten minutes, followed by a massage and reflexology on each foot.
